Credit notes

Credit notes record amounts you owe back to a customer — for returned goods, over-billing, or goodwill adjustments. In Growmax ARC you issue credit notes and apply them against a customer's open invoices to reduce the amount they owe.

Before you start

  • For returns, handle the return from the invoice first so it stays linked to what was billed. See Invoice your customers.

Create a credit note

  1. Go to Sales > Credit Notes.
  2. Create a new credit note for the customer.
  3. Enter the details and amount of the credit.
  4. Review and save the credit note.

Apply a credit note to open invoices

  1. Go to Sales > Credit Notes to open the list view.
  2. Select the credit note and choose to apply it to open invoices.
  3. Apply it against one or more of the customer's open invoices to reduce the amount owed.

Other credit note actions

From Sales > Credit Notes, you can also:

  • Void a credit note.
  • Delete a credit note.
  • Generate a PDF of the credit note for sharing or printing.

Tips

  • Applying a credit note reduces what the customer owes without touching the payment records — the outstanding balance updates accordingly.
  • Void (rather than delete) a credit note you want to cancel but keep a record of.
  • Check the customer's credit position on their Customer 360 record before issuing large credits. See Manage customers.
