Developer signup and public app drafts

A public app is an app other ARC organizations install after Growmax reviews it. You build it as a developer: a developer account that belongs to one of your dev tenants. There is no separate developer portal or login. You use the dev tenant's own admin console.

1. Provision a dev tenant

From your own organization, provision a dev tenant (see Dev tenants and test mode). Sign in to it with your own email address. You are its Owner.

2. Become a developer

In the dev tenant, open Settings → Apps → Developer and choose Become a Developer. To continue, you accept the Growmax app developer data-processing agreement (DPA). The screen shows its version.

  • Only an Owner or Admin can do this. It needs the settings:apps:manage permission.
  • The dev tenant needs the Custom Apps switch, like any organization that builds apps. A new dev tenant does not have it yet: ask Growmax to switch it on for the dev tenant.
  • It works only in a dev tenant. In any other organization, the Developer tab explains where signup happens.
  • One dev tenant has one developer account. Its contact email is the email of the person who signed up.

The same step over GraphQL:

query {
developerProfile {
isDevTenant
dpaVersion
account { id name }
}
}

mutation {
becomeDeveloper(input: { dpaVersion: "<developerProfile.dpaVersion>" }) {
id
name
}
}

ARC accepts only the current agreement version. An older version is refused.

3. Draft a public app

Choose Draft a Public App. Enter:

  • the app's name, handle and redirect URLs, as for a private app;
  • its listing: a tagline, a description, and a support URL and privacy policy URL (both HTTPS).

You accept the developer agreement again for each draft. The version, the time and your user are recorded on that app's listing.

You get the app's OAuth client ID and secret. The secret is shown only once.

mutation {
createPublicAppDraft(input: {
name: "Route planner"
handle: "route-planner"
redirectUris: ["https://planner.example.com/callback"]
tagline: "Plans delivery routes"
description: "Plans delivery routes from confirmed orders."
supportUrl: "https://planner.example.com/support"
privacyUrl: "https://planner.example.com/privacy"
dpaVersion: "<developerProfile.dpaVersion>"
}) {
clientId
clientSecret
app { id }
}
}

4. Publish versions and test on your dev tenant

Publish a version with publishPublicAppVersion (same input as publishPrivateAppVersion), or with Publish a Version on the app's row. Then install the app on the same dev tenant through its OAuth connect flow. Test mode applies: mail never leaves, and webhooks carry X-ARC-Environment: test.

Where a public app can be installed

OrganizationCan install the draft?
The dev tenant its developer account belongs toYes, for testing
Any other organizationNo. The app is not visible to it, and the install is refused.

Other organizations can install the app only after Growmax review approves it and the public catalogue opens it. Review and the catalogue are not available yet.

Not covered here

  • Signing up without a dev tenant.
  • Review, publishing to the catalogue, and billing.
